Lighting / reflectors are regulated in Sweden by the Swedish Transport Agency's Constitution (2010: 144) and the Traffic Ordinance (1998: 1276). When traveling in the dark, the bike must be equipped with white or yellow light at the front and red light at the rear, in addition, there must be a white reflector at the front, a red reflector at the back and an orange-yellow or white reflector at the sides. Flashing lights may be used at the rear at least 200 flashes per minute but is by law forbidden to use at the front when driving on the road. It is forbidden by law to use other colors in your lighting.

Most bikes also have reflectors in the pedals. When pedaling, the pedal reflexes move in a characteristic way that makes it easier to identify that the road user who is seen is a cyclist. Some cyclists also choose to use a reflector warning stick, reflective vest and reflexes on the arms.
