Principia bike for sporty leisure!

Had they now been able to afford it, they could only have bought one frame. But then the adventure with Principia had never begun.

“We couldn't pay for those fancy frames that came from the US at the time. So we had to start making them ourselves," says Gert Spender Andersen, one of three young guys with the same problem: where do you get a good triathlon frame? The answer was in himself. A bluish glow began to flicker through the basement window at Himmerlandsgade 7 in Aalborg, as the triathletes filed and welded aluminum tubes in search of a fast bike frame.

The goal was from the beginning to create the world's best framework. Simply. And the trio from Aalborg also agreed on a criterion for quality: STW - "stiffness to weight". The best frame in the world must be the one that has the best ratio between stiffness and weight. A rigid and light frame provides the best acceleration in relation to the energy that the rider generates against the pedals, and a rigid frame also gives the bike better steering characteristics. Not difficult to understand today. But in 1990, only a few thought that way. The new approach and new framework needed a name. We dare say that Principia must be the only racing bike in the world named after a book. Every acceleration on a Principia cycle sends a greeting to Isaac Newton, who in 1687 enriched modern physics with his pioneering masterpiece, Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica.
