Snowboards are often ridden on a special type of slope called a "park". This type of slope contains jumps, rails, benches and halfpipes intended for various snowboard tricks.

Snowboard is excellent for loose snow skiing off-piste. The snowboard is easier to maneuver in loose snow than two skis and thanks to its large surface, the skier does not sink so deep. In order for the snowboard to be better kept on top of the snow when loose snow skiing and to be easier to maneuver in deep snow, the bindings are mounted further back on the board, which may have a wide and long front end and a narrow and short rear end.
