The pedal is the part of a bicycle that you as a cyclist press with your foot to drive the vehicle. It provides the connection between the cyclist's foot or shoe and the bicycle. Which causes the crank arm to turn the crank bearing and drive the bicycle wheel through the chain. A pedal usually consists of a spindle which enters the end of the crank arm and a body to which the footrest is attached which is free to rotate on bearings relative to the spindle.
