Head skis company was founded in 1950 by Howard Head and has since joined forces with several other companies to create a worldwide network of manufacturers and innovators in several different sports. In addition to ski equipment, they also manufacture and distribute equipment for tennis, diving and swimming. With an incredible quality of its products and a very professional organization, the Head ski company is a big part of the alpine world and the sports world in general.

Johan Eliasch, who is an avid skier and was well aware of the HEAD brand, gained control of HEAD Sports in 1995. Eliasch went quickly to revive HTM's fortunes. With the product lines more focused, he focused the company's attention on three areas: winter sports, tennis and diving.

A fourth division, licensing, was added later. As a result of these changes, the company was able to report its first profit in several years in 1997. In 1997, HTM introduced the first tennis racket made of titanium and graphite, which proved to be very popular. It then developed the first computerized tennis racket, called HEAD Intelligence, which used sensors to adjust the necessary force and in the process suppressed about half of all vibrations, eliminating the cause of tennis elbow.
