Fischer
Fischer is an Austrian manufacturer of ski equipment (both alpine and for cross-country skiing), rackets for tennis and squash and hockey sticks. The company's headquarters are located in Ried, Austria.
Fischer was founded in 1924 by Josef Fischer Senior. The company made carriages, sledges and skis of wood. All skis were handmade, each one unique. When Fischer wanted to expand, he designed most of the machines himself. Series production of skis began in 1936. They began to separate the work steps, so it was possible to produce more skis in a short time. In 1938, Fischer sent 2000 skis to the United States. Unfortunately, one could not keep in touch when World War II broke out. After a fire in the Fischer factory plant, a new plant of 8000 m² was built. At that time, Fischer already exported a quarter of its entire production. The United States and Germany became the most important foreign markets. In 1958, Rudolf Ferch sketched a logo for Fischer. You still feel it today as Fischer triangles. After Josef Fischer Senior's death in 1959, his children took over the company.
In 1965, they began to be used fiberglass together with wood in the skis. During the 1970s, Fischer was one of the world's largest manufacturers of ski equipment and had a successful collaboration with the Austrian downhill skier. Franz Bracket. In 1974, tennis rackets were manufactured in a factory in Cologne. Thomas Wassberg won gold on a pair of Fischer skis in the 1980 Winter Olympics. In 1988, a second factory was put into operation, located in Mukatyev, Ukraine. In 2003, the alpine range was expanded with bindings and boots under its own name and it has a complete alpine range. In 2011, Fischer presented a world first: VACUUM FIT ski boots that are fully adapted.
The company is still owned by the original Fischer family.
